A Little Bit more extra

Free Mounting/ Free Printed Border

In most cases, our prints look best just as they were created and can be directly put into a frame of your liking or our premium frames. However, depending on your taste, you might prefer to add just a little more extra space between the artwork and the frame to allow it to breathe. We offer the option of adding a printed white border for free. Using our framing service, you can also add a white window mount for free.

A Short Guide to

Buying Picture Frames

Buying the right picture frame for your newly acquired artwork can be tricky. With so many options online and offline, it can be an often overwhelming and intimidating experience. GMM Mubakemeshi Art Prints have rich texture and colour intensity. It is essential to choose a frame that emphasises these properties. We want an equal match—at best, a Glow-up, but never a Glow-dow. The right frame can protect and showcase the content and ensure your artwork gets the desired exposure.

In this guide, you’ll learn what to look for when purchasing a picture frame online or from your local vendor to find the perfect match for your GMM artwork.

1. Quality of the frame

When handled with care, GMM Mubakemeshi Fine Art Prints can last longer than a lifetime. Therefore, choosing a quality frame that can preserve the artwork for years is paramount. Cheap frames can be a temporary solution, but we strongly recommend choosing a high-quality frame, preferably a custom-made frame. You don’t have to pick an overly costly model. However, purchase a sturdy picture frame, especially when buying larger frame sizes.

2. Choosing the right frame style

Choosing a frame that suits the art and the room in which it will be displayed is vital. Pay close attention to colours and details. Pick a frame with a palette that complements or highlights the art piece while balancing the artwork’s colours with those in the room where you want to hang it. If you choose a wooden frame, make sure that the colour of the wood matches the other wood in the room.

Most quality frames are made of wood or metal. Wooden frames can add an elegant flair to the artwork you purchase. However, solid wood frames can be pretty heavy, so make sure your wall and hooks are strong enough to support them if you choose this option. Metal frames, on the other hand, are usually made of aluminium. This makes them durable and lightweight but gives them a modern, minimalist look.

3. Frame Size

All GMM Mubakemeshi Fine Art Prints come in the following standardised sizes (Aspect ratio 3:4 or 4:3):

90×120 cm / 35.4×47.2 inches

75×100 cm / 29.5×39.4 inches

60×80 cm / 23.8×31.5 inches

45×60 cm / 17.7×23.6 inches

30×40 cm / 11.8×15.8 inches

The size of the image corresponds to the size of the frame it needs. For instance, if you purchase a 75×100 cm print, you should search for a 75x100cm frame. You can also put a 100×75 cm print into a 75x100cm frame; hang it horizontally.

4. Glazing: Glass or acrylic?

The glazing is the part of the frame that ‘covers’ your artwork but allows the contents to be seen. Choosing the right glazing material is crucial for protecting and displaying your artwork over time. Covers are usually made from glass or acrylic. Glass provides an excellent, transparent surface that protects your artwork well. However, it is very fragile and must be handled carefully. On the other hand, acrylic is similar in appearance to glass but is lightweight, durable, and less prone to breakage.

An important consideration when buying a frame is the finish of your cover. Two standard options are a clear surface, which, as the name suggests, provides a crystal-clear surface for your artwork, or a non-glare surface, which gently softens extreme glare from light and slightly softens the colour of your artwork.

We highly recommend you choose an anti-reflective surface, a coating that eliminates glare.

5. Where to Buy Your Frame

Some people buy picture frames from local art framers in their neighbourhood. This option is excellent and often more environmentally friendly. In addition, it is wonderful to support local small businesses. One downside is that it is usually costly, time-consuming, and inconvenient. Buying picture frames online can be more affordable and convenient as it offers an almost endless choice of styles. When shopping online for picture frames, make sure the frame is sturdy enough for larger sizes. Avoid choosing the cheapest supplier if possible, as the cost savings are usually reflected in the frame’s sturdiness.
